Working With A Drywall Panel Hoist & Lift

One of the best ways to get your drywall job done “in all the right places” is to use a drywall panel hoist and lift combination.  This combination will save your back by lifting heavy drywall panels to your wall or ceiling for you.  You won’t waste time and energy trying to do the job by yourself.  In the meantime, you will be doing your back a huge favor!

Most lifts have a holding capacity of at least 150 pounds.  The hoist part of the unit does the work for you, making it unnecessary for you to have someone else there by your side helping you on your project.  The entire lift unit is easy to assemble and take apart and rarely requires any tools whatsoever.  It folds up neatly so that storage is not a problem.

If you are putting drywall on your ceiling, you might want to have someone else give you a hand, even if you’re using a drywall hoist.  The ceiling is the most difficult part of the job, so get it done first and the rest of your drywall project will be “a snap”!    Before you hoist the drywall up to the ceiling take the time to mark all of the studs and joists on the ceiling so that you will know where to put your nails or screws.  Then, put one panel of drywall on the lift and crank it up into place on the ceiling.

The great thing about using a drywall lift is that the panel will stay in place on the ceiling and you won’t have to use your head to hold it there!  Start out by nailing or screwing the panel into the ceiling at the center of the panel and work your way outward.  Once your ceiling is finished, start putting up the drywall on the walls.  They will act as support for the panels you have already put on the ceiling.  Remember that drywall will break so don’t force it into place.  Always use a sharp utility knife to do any trim work.

A drywall panel hoist is something that will make your job a whole lot faster.  You won’t believe how easy it really is to do your own drywall work using this handy piece of equipment!
